It's What I Do: I Read, and I know Things

I have three real passions in life besides my family and my pets. They are: reading, writing, and teaching. All my days, I have pursued these, and I've been fortunate enough to actually do all three, both privately and professionally.
I've been trying to find a way to share some of what I've learned over the course of my years, but I decided it wouldn't be a blog (I already have one of those), and it needed to be something quick and interesting and of value. A tall order, I know. But then, VOILA! Serendipity worked its magic and sent me a t-shirt.
I love the shirt. It is black with white lettering that reads: It's What I Do: I Read and I Know Things.
I plan to order a couple more with long sleeves for cooler weather, and maybe another short sleeve one.
The words describe my life so perfectly, for of all my passions, the one I pursue most often is the reading. I read everything:  true crime, thrillers, beach reads, Southern literature, short stories, essays, psychology, craft books (on writing, art, and hand crafts), self-help, biographies, autobiographies, some poetry, and history. I read books for children and adults, middle-schoolers and teens. Doesn't matter. If it looks interesting, I read it.
And I gather a lot of information in my head from the reading. Some information is  totally frivolous. Some, I might prefer to forget. Some I store for later use in my writing. Some I share with others who read or write. And a lot of this I want to share, just because I know in my heart there must be someone else out there in this world who needs or wants to know this stuff, too.  Or maybe there are just people out there like me who collect info just because...
So, that's what this page is for. I'm going to share some snippets of things I read. The info may be something on writing. It may be info about a good book. It may be a passage of beautiful writing, or writing that has affected me in some  powerful way. The information may just be silly things I read about and never knew.  At any rate, I won't comment on what I post (at least that's the plan). If I do comment, it will be short and sweet, I promise....I know you're all busy.  I'll just post the info and put it out there for whomever might want or need it.
Who knows, maybe it will spark some story or essay ideas for you. And for me. Anyway, I hope you enjoy!
